Hi! I’m Greg Austin, a 61-year-old lover of sports — especially baseball, football, golf, and weightlifting — plus theology/philosophy and all the arts!
And I write. A lot.
An aspiring Psychological Suspense novelist on the side, I now work freelance in everything I do: first, as the Marketing “guru” for my father’s startup company Austin Pure Air, a small North American distributorship offering the world’s most powerful and economical indoor air purifiers (no kidding!) that come all the way from Finland. To empower sales, I write my weekly Independent Agent newsletters and blog articles and other website/training materials. Hope to start video work soon.
Here and there, I also do Fiction and Non-Fiction Book Editing/Critiquing or Ghostwriting when I can squeeze them in, and even a little copywriting here and there.
In my early adult years, from 1976 to 1992, I served as a Youth Minister, a Christian Academy Lecturer, and a small-church Interim Pastor. Later, while still in my first marriage and the father of four children, I studied toward Texas certification for becoming a high school teacher and baseball coach while working in multi-level marketing and doing D-FW area training. Teamed up with my wife for 5 1/2 years, we promoted fashion jewelry sales for a great Christian company named Premier Designs. I even did the ladies’ home shows myself and often got to work/study/be at home with our wonderful kids!
You would think everything was great, right?
No. Struggling financially and feeling desperate in my marriage — the problem was inside me, not caused by my circumstances — I fell into an insidious angry depression and immorality. As a result, I lost everything, just about. And I had to come face to face with the monstrous emptiness and sickness that had risen up inside me to destroy my whole life and ministry as a father and husband.
Then…in the ensuing years, I had to find answers or die. It was that simple.
What I found, eventually, through much soul-searching and reading and study, was the “secret” to everything. It was a mystery partly revealed and partly hidden….waiting to be discovered.
I discovered it, along with my passion for writing.
My major theme in life now is based on the hit song by the Christian group Avalon, Testify To Love. That’s my passion and my true work until I die: encourage others through my writing to pursue the right direction for their life. I want to do this by testifying about my own experience and explaining what I’ve learned about the love of God, which most people have no real clue about! (They have some nebulous, misleading concept that is rooted in vague, inadequate imagination rather than in the full truth!)
I hope to help remedy that lack for many people through my reality-based blogging, novels, and e-books. With a strong training background in Biblical theology, both undergrad and graduate studies, I will also draw on many other resources — culture and the arts and more — to illustrate the life-giving concepts I wish to share as I seek to only bless others now, not harm them.
